I Ordered My Snoopy Plate!

Oh, yes I did!

I do not currently have a “vanity” license plate for my car. I have thought about getting one from time to time, but never splurged. (They cost anywhere from about $50 to $100 extra each year for the privilege of having the plate.) Plus, I am always trying to think of something extra witty and clever for my plate, because I appreciate others’ witty or clever ideas, and I never think I come up to scratch in intelligent, brainy humor.

For a couple of years now, there has been a movement to get a new vanity option plate added to the several that California has. (Visit the DMV website to see what California offers.) This new one was going to have Snoopy on it, and the proceeds from the plate would go to support California’s museums. Worthy cause! And who doesn’t love Snoopy? I LOVE SNOOPY. So, of course, I signed up to indicate that, yes, I was interested and would support the plate. (Any drivers you know that also would love a Snoopy plate could visit this site for information about how to go about ordering one of their own.) The proponents of the plate needed to have a certain number of people interested. Then it needed to be approved by whomever approves these things, before it finally could be placed out their for consumers like me. And, at least 7, 500 drivers need to purchase their plates before they are actually made. So far, about 2,800 people have ordered their plate. I am one of those people! I ordered it tonight.

Here is what the plate will look like:

Mine will have something other than “123ABC” . . . I listed my top three choices for personalized plates. I won’t say what they are until one of them arrives in the mail. I don’t want anyone poaching on my cool ideas!

Look for it on my car sometime soon (hopefully)!

  1. Hey My name is Hannah and i’m in Mrs. Donofrios 7th grade. I really like this post. My parents do not have any of those special licanes plates but I think they are cute. I like the turtle one. I also like Snoopy. Hes quite a charter. No pun intend. What was your second choice if you couldn’t get the Snoopy one?Hope you you can visit my blog at … http://hannahpsblog.edublogs.org/. Hope to blog you later!

    1. Hi there,

Thanks for visiting my blog! 🙂

I love the Snoopy one, but I thought that if I ever did get a plate (that is, if Snoopy weren’t an option), then I would get the American Flag plate which benefits victims of 9/11. I like the flag plate, also, because my husband is retired from the Army. Shortly after 9/11, he was deployed for homeland defense for a year in Utah. (The Olympics were in Salt Lake City in 2002.) So, the plate has a special significance for me on two levels, I guess.

  2. Hello, my name is Aliciahk from Mrs.Donofrios 7th grade class. I just wanted to say that I’m a Snoopy fan too and I LOVE that license plate! Of course I can’t drive yet( I’m only in 7th grade), but when I get older I would like to have a fun plate like that one. If I were to have a license plate with one of the Peanut characters I would chose Snoopy’s best friend, Woodpecker. I have always loved the dynamic duo and all their shenanigans. What are your top 3 favorite Peanut characters? Why are they your favorites?
    Your friend,
    ~Aliciahk

    1. Shenanigans! Great, spicy word!

My favorite character is probably Lucy. I feel that she is most like me — intelligent yet pessimistic, quirky and bossy. I have a rather large Peanuts Gang collection o’stuff upstairs, and each Christmas I put up a Charlie Brown tree. I should clarify and tell you that not only do I have a Charlie Brown tree just like the wimpy one he buys in the Christmas special (a birthday present for me from Urban Outfitters one year), but also I have a 7 foot tall wrought iron ornament tree COVERED in Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and other Peanuts Gang ornaments. Hallmark makes Peanuts Gang ornaments and sells them each Christmas . . . sometimes as many as five to eight a year. I get them for my birthday (since I am a December birthday person). They’ve been making the collection for more than 20 years, so my collection goes back that far. Plus, Lenox also makes some more high-end porcelain Peanuts Gang ornaments that I usually always buy one of each year, too.

I’ll put up a picture of our classroom, too. I bought some Peanuts Gang-themed fabric to cover my bulletin boards. It’s always cheery to walk into my room each day.

BUT! Charlie Brown and Snoopy (and Lucy!) are not necessarily my only favorite cartoon characters. I have nearly just as large a collection of SpongeBob stuff. I LOVE SPONGEBOB. Do you have any other favorite cartoons?

    1. Hey there,
Remember when we put some address stickers in our agendas at the beginning of the year with info on them about how to reach me? My Google Sharing address is on there. BUT . . . if you create your document IN the folder you shared with me earlier in the year, you do not need to worry about sharing. I will be able to see it automatically. IF you already created the document, simply move it into the folder and that’s it. 🙂
